TOPIC: Species native to Florida

Species native to Florida 4 years ago #26

What species of bamboo is native to Florida? I have seen bamboo growing
in a few places around Florida since I was a kid. I assume this is a native species.

i believe that Arundinaria gigantea is the only native species to the entire US still in existence. sometimes called giant cane or switch cane. these grow to a maximum height of 15-20 feet.

Yep, switch cane is the only native bamboo species to North America, everything else has been imported.
